XM Satellite Radio over the past weeks has filed for various trademarks, something that we haven't seen in quite a while.
The most recent trademark filings, made in the past week or so, are: "Morning Briefing," "Unfiltered," and "1600."
All three trademarks have the descriptions of being "an ongoing radio program in the field of politics" - with 1600 obviously being a reference for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Most likely all three are shows meant for the highly anticipated Presidential Election channel POTUS '08.
Other trademarks that XM has registered for are "Where Everyone is an Insider" and "Wherever You Are Saturdays." The former is described as being a "audio programs featuring talk, news, music, and data via satellite and the Internet," which could literally be anything. The latter is currently a college sports program on XM Sports Nation (ch 144).

I personally cannot wait for the POTUS channel to come out. "Unfiltered" sounds like the best show since that's exactly what we need in this country. No filters distilling the issues. The media is so politically biased it's about time we get something for us in the center.
CNN is too far left, FOX is too far right. If POTUS can be smack dead in the center, then XM's got a winner in my book.
"Wherever You Are Saturdays."
Is that like Rock Scream Tuesday?
Since when you can trademark numbers?! seriously....1600®
If a number acts as a source identifier, it can be trademarked, just as colors, sounds shapes and smells can be, (if they act as a source identifier of goods and services).
"CNN is too far left," wow... what a time we live in when CNN is considered by some (seriously misguided folks) to be progressive. I couldn't disagree with you more. Check out Democracy Now! to find the investigative journalism center.
>> wow... what a time we live in when CNN is considered by some (seriously misguided folks) to be progressive.
You're kidding right? CNN is a haven for liberal (I refuse to call them "progressive") propaganda. FOX is just as bad, but on the other side of the spectrum. CNN gets a free ride because the public has become so desensitized by liberal media.... it's the norm now.
But when FOX comes along and does the exact opposite, all the "progressives" get all up in arms (OH THE HORROR! we have an opposing view in this country!).
You misunderstand me though.... I hate both. I just want to see political reporting without the agenda. Somewhere in the whole process the media assumes that viewers/listeners don't have enough of a brain to make their own decisions. So we need asses like Wolf Blitzer and Shep Smith to make them for us.
Here's hoping that POTUS will be different.
"Where everyone is an insider" is already on the POTUS '08 page.
1600 better run at 4 PM eastern...
