Dan PatrickFormer ESPN personality Dan Patrick will have his show air on XM Satellite Radio starting on January 21st.

Patrick premiered his new syndicated radio show in October after leaving ESPN in August. In addition to the radio show, Patrick recently joined Sports Illustrated as a senior writer for the magazine and SI.com, and will re-launch DanPatrick.com in February 2008.

Prior to joining the Content Factory (a Chicago-based content distribution company which owns and produces the show) Patrick spent 18 years at ESPN, where he served as an anchor on "SportsCenter" and, for the past eight years, hosted his ESPN Radio show.

"The Dan Patrick Show" will broadcast on XM Sports Nation (ch 144) every weekday from 10am to 12 noon ET/7am - 9am PT.

They drop Fuego, add En Fuego. Makes sense.

Very cool...I had a chance to hear the show while I was in Phoenix the last couple weeks, and I think it's actually a bit better now that it's not on ESPN...He doesn't have to be as careful. It'll be cool to have it on XM, though the timeslot could be a bit difficult...Competing with The Herd on ESPN, O&A, and some of the specialty music shows like Theme Time Radio Hour. Hopefully, people will check it out.

Theme Time is on all day long, as are O&A replays, so that shouldn't be too much of an issue. I look forward to this. I enjoyed Patrick. Hope he doesn't have Olbermann on though.

I hope there are less commercials than when it was on ESPN.

Patrick is a thoughtful, entertaining alternative to the Jim Romes of the world. His show will definitely replace the last hour of O&A in my at-work listening schedule. Better yet, since he isn't the same hit (yet) in syndication that he was at ESPN, I think he's motivated to give XM the kind of promotional effort that their other "hybrid" talents seem to avoid.

There's no reason that the relationship can't develop further than simulcasting his show, either. Ideally I'd love to see him as the face of XM's sports department, the way Rich Eisen is at NFL Network.

ESPN Radio when I first got XM....................ESPN Radio now

Mike and Mike................................................Mike and Mike
Tony Kornhiser.............................................Cowheard
Dan Patrick....................................................Mike Tirico
Sports Bash..................................................SportNation

ESPN Radio has gone to hell in a hand basket. IMO all their program is very weak and the new Patrick show does give me some satisfaction. I have heard that Mr. Tony is coming back to locale DC radio, does anyone know if he is coming back to XM?

Kornheiser does a local show for the six months a year that he's not exhausted by his MNF duties. I don't think it's back from hiatus yet, and with the station in trouble, I'm not sure what his 2008 home will be. It remains to be seen that what amounts to seasonal programming would appeal to the XM powers that be.

I should add that XM did carry his show last year on XMSN (144). Presumably they were aware that he'd be leaving for football season and were OK with it. So when Kornheiser takes over for Burd again after the Super Bowl, check 144.

WTWP had his show running 8:30-10:30, kind of an odd time slot, and one that would conflict with Patrick. I could easily see Mr. Tony refusing to wake up any earlier in the morning. Maybe XM would run the show later in the day.

TK is back on thei air on January 21st. He will be on XMSN and will air 8:15-10 am ET. Bad news for a Kornheiser junkie like me on the West Coast. There are also rumors he has taken on a full year deal to do the radio. No more MNF for Tony?
