XM moving their Nashville studios

Sommet CenterXM Satellite Radio is moving their Nashville operation from the current home at The Country Music Hall Of Fame to the Sommet Center, according to All Access.

The three-story space at the Sommet Center (formerly known as the Gaylord Entertainment Center, and pronounced 'soh-MAY') located in downtown Nashville is already under construction. XM's new location includes office space, two full studios, a performance area, three production studios and a complete production suite.

All Access also reports that XM will be moving to the new address "later this year."

What happened to the story about Grateful Dead radio starting 8/28, and that it will be replacing Planet Jazz?

Wonder if the performance space means we might actually get some more country performances or Artist Confidentials done. I know Bluegrass Junction seems to have a good number of live performances, but I've always felt we could use more live stuff on the other country channels.

The studio in the CMHOF was tiny. Maybe moving to the Gaylord will get some better musical acts to play at intermission during Predators games. I can dream can't I?

The Grateful Dead article was found to be completely inaccurate and was removed. Sorry for the confusion.

This is good news. XM really does a great job with the country channels, and this probably means they will be kept over their SIRI counterparts once the merger goes through and similar channels are axed.
