I wonder how Best Buy, Circuit City and the other XM retail "Partners" feel about this? Hmmm.....??

Posted by: Anonymous at November 14, 2005 07:33 AM

the Myfis, Tao, And airware are sold out already. guess i waited too long.

"I wonder how Best Buy, Circuit City and the other XM retail "Partners" feel about this? Hmmm.....??"

Since they still claim retail as 299 or 249, who the fuck cares.

Had i known you would post this here i would have sent you the "ronfez" promo that had them for 129 over a month ago.

A couple more "stipulations" apply:

- $50 rebate NOT valid on these purchases (obviously)
- Must keep radio subscribed for 6 months (so, three more month's after your three month pre-pay runs out)
- Radios can NOT be returned. Exchanges for defects within 30 days, but that's all.
- Radios come pre-activated, but may need a refresh (refresh.xmradio.com). Be patient as it may take a bit for them to refresh.
- Calling Customer Care will only confuse CSR's...they know almost NOTHING about these Friends & Family deals. So, be prepared for a confusing and lengthy phone call if you need to talk to a person @ XM.

XM's secure sites (Listener Care, Shopping, Friends & Family, etc.) are NOT Mozilla/Firefox friendly. I was able to add every item to my cart using IE.

You will probably need to call in the refresh and yes, mention the friends and family thing.

the key word is refresh. buying the radio this way creates an account for you at XM so do not under any circumstances tell listener care that it is a new activation. it is a refresh (they make the account for you, but the radio comes in the factory packaging, sealed, and obviously did not yet get the activation signal)

Sponsor not working - have they shut it down?

Posted by: Kajo at November 14, 2005 10:21 AM

Oh no, look what I found on a BBY (Best Buy) stock board. It seems some of the shareholders are not pleased with XM undercutting their pricing and are encouraging fellow shareholders to write Best Buy.

Communications with the Board of Directors
Shareholders who wish to contact the Board, any individual director, the non-management or independent directors as a group, or the Secretary who serves as the presiding director over the non-management executive sessions of the Board, are welcome to do so in writing, addressed to such person(s) in care of:

Mr. Joseph M. Joyce
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Assistant Secretary

Ryan,

My advice is don't do this childish thing in future. Friends and family is friends and family, its not to be put on web.

Posted by: hello at November 14, 2005 10:29 AM

Hey if something is brought to Ryan's attention he's got every right to save members to his site a few bucks. I mean come on its all last years hardware at bargin bin prices anyhow. Anyone else wonder why the myfi comes up 3 or 4 times on the list? Just bad web site programming?

"childish" is your opinion only. To the rest of us knowledge into saving a few bucks is far from "childish" heck xm make the money on sub's more than hardware. Its not good for xm to do this to the retailers though, rather "childish" of xm no? :)

Posted by: Anonymous at November 14, 2005 11:06 AM

Yeah "BAN" Ryan S for being "childish" oh wait no, forget it.

ha ha ha ha

It's his site, he can do what he pleases

XM does this to the retailer ALL the time!! Take a look at the mall kiosks for example...

You could have a Circuit in a mall now selling XM with an XM kiosk right down the hall trying to undercut them. It is funny really, XM convinces these stores to buy an amount of hardware to sell and then competes with them.

Not the first time either, remember the free Roady2 promo? Yep, that was no good for the retailer either. Sent pre-activated from XM, so the retailer did not get credit for the sale or the activation. Hell, they were lucky to get the install.

annie@xmradio.com not working anymore?
Confirmed.

Try bill.wax@xmradio.com.

Maybe there's a limit to how many radio's per email...

Posted by: syphix at November 14, 2005 11:33 AM

bill.wax@xmradio.com works with the promotion, thanks!

Posted by: CottonGear at November 14, 2005 11:54 AM

If the bill.wax one stops working, you can do a Google search to find other e-mails and promo codes.

Posted by: Jimmy at November 14, 2005 01:36 PM

Best Buy is probably gonna kill me, but if the above promotion doesn't work, try this XM Radio Coupon Code:

http://partners.xmradio.com
Coupon code: MAJLABXM6

(That's it! I'm banning myself)

If I wasn't a Sirius Subscriber, I would hop on this... $99 portable receiver is a hot deal!!! I only wished Sirius would do something like that with the S50 (wishful thinking) The Best Buy deal works.

Posted by: Nathan at November 15, 2005 10:35 AM

Just used it - Airware for $99! Thanks!!!!

Posted by: jim at November 15, 2005 05:00 PM

Actually, this promotion is more common across the board...Here's the link from the Direct TV site. It looks like XM has the same cross promotion now that they have been added to the Direct TV lineup as of today:

This rocks!

A Tao is heading my way.

I was looking at Sirius and XM.

I could not pass this up. XM has MLB and I was leaning toward them anyway.

Thanks!!!!
