XM Radio Online/Sirius Internet Radio get new channels

Online Radio updates
Listeners to Sirius Internet Radio and XM Radio Online may have noticed a bit of an update recently - new channels! Some channels are now being shared between the two services, and others are online-only exclusive compilations.

Additionally, Sirius Hits 1 is now being called Sirius XM Hits 1 - and there's a dedicated webpage on XM for channel 2 (though it hasn't shown up on anyone's XM receivers at the time of posting this).

Does this have anything to do with the Sirius XM iPhone App?
Some of the new online exclusive channels include:
  • Limited Engagements
  • Sirius XM Bootlegs
  • Sirius XM Music Showcase
  • Sirius XM Comedy Showcase
  • Sirius XM Talk Showcase
There's a bunch more channels, including CNN, that have also been added to the lineup.

I have a funny feeling, and I'm definitely not alone, that this has something to do with the Sirius XM iPhone App being only a few weeks away from being released. It simply makes sense to bolster the online offering - especially after charging subscribers extra to the service.

20on20 is now ID'ing as "SIRIUS XM Hits 1", both online and on-sat. Perhaps an official name change/channel change happening?

that's a shme that mlb homeplate is not on the list

The channel merger was a fn joke. I could see special content channels/packages not being available on both sides (for now) but the music should be the same on both sides (online level and receiver level). It's one company and there should be one channel lineup. End of story! I support this technology but it's hard to defend when they can't get their act together and start acting like one company.

If they think they're gonna charge Subscribers extra for the iPhone app, they've got another thing coming. They already charge me to listen in my car AND on my computer. Fuck them.

Now if they want to charge non-subscribers an iPhone fee, that's fine.

20 on 20 actually is branding themself as Sirius XM 20 on 20, and hits one is now Sirius XM Hits one... Due to the fact that they are available online to both groups.

During the morning mash up they say Hits One, and the screen may say that now too.. but only during the Morning Show as the Morning Mash Up is now LIVE on both stations and not voicetracked on the XM Side.

I don't believe Hits one is Coming to the Sats. It is only online as an online only channel.

Just like Limited Engagements is located at http://www.xmradio.com/onxm/channelpage.xmc?ch=39

Description for both say:

HEAR SIRIUS XM HITS 1. NO RADIO REQUIRED.

SIRIUS XM Hits 1 is available online with Premium XM Radio Online. Premium XM Radio Online lets you enjoy over 120 channels of commercial-free music, exclusive sports talk, and the most talked about personalities

HEAR LIMITED ENGAGEMENTS. NO RADIO REQUIRED.

SIRIUS XM Limited Engagements is available online with Premium XM Radio Online. Premium XM Radio Online lets you enjoy over 120 channels of commercial-free music, exclusive sports talk, and the most talked about personalities.

Why can't we get these on satellite instead of online? I would love to have The Groove and Pop2k in my car.

How about instead of them screwing with the damn channels and adding more, they put the audio quality back where it was?

Oh, and how about LESS talking from the stupid ass DJ's??

And another one, how about putting my online stream BACK to 64Kbps so it doesn't sound like I am listening to a $2.00 Wal-Mart transistor AM radio????

20 is still labeled as "20 on 20" on Pulsar. Channel 2 "Sirius XM Hits 1" is showing up on Pulsar as well. Same on the online listener. Guess everything changed in the time you looked at it. I will look at my receivers later.

I hope not I actually like 20 on 20 a lot more than hits1 and I am a Sirius sub.

I can't wait for the I phone app!

xmboy on XMFAN.com has cleared the air: 20on20 is identifying as "SIRIUS XM Hits 1" during the Morning Mashup, but not during the day. After 12pm ET, it's back to calling itself "20on20".

Wow i guess i will stop listening to my custom channels on slacker now that these shit channels are showing up online for siriusxm. SatRader's and their silly offerings. ha

Never made sense that the online offering wasn't more than the satrad offering. I would like to see punk brought back for the listeners too. No reason to limit the offerings.

Maybe Sirius can make their online player not so damn horrible? It's absolutely THE worst streaming media player on the internet.

The new online channels are exciting in theory only. Have any of you guys ever listened to the online channels? They almost all exhibit intense popping and skipping!

If Sirius doesn't fix their streams before their iphone app is released, they will have a 1 star review on itunes and be more of a laughing stock than they already are.

Why can't this company just do right by their customers? I love the exposure to new music and selection of channels, but they just keep f'n over the users.

If XM is getting SiriusXM Hit 1 then maybe they can stop airing the "Morning Mash Up" on "20 on 20." Why air it on two channels? I hated the fact they screwed up one of the channels I liked most with a morning show. Eck!

My car only comes with Sirius so I don't really have a choice in the matter of which one I subscribe to but I think its crappy that Sirius subscribers are screwed with only one CHR hit music channel with Hits 1 while XM has 20 on 20, Pop2K, Kiss, and the Pink channel. It's one company now why can both have the same channels? Sirius doesn't have any commercial music channels like XM but they could atleast share the commercial free ones and add 20 on 20 and Pop2k to Sirius to give us a little more choice!

this is great

"Have any of you guys ever listened to the online channels? They almost all exhibit intense popping and skipping! "

Maybe you should move out of you mom's doublewide. I do listen and there is NO popping and skipping.

Love that Bloomberg and America Right are now included.

By the way, these suits now charge $16 to swap a new radio for a new one...

Great. More choices...as long as you're willing to pay more for them. Meanwhile, those of us already paying that don't listen online get shafted. Nice. I think Sirius-XM should really concentrate on keeping the subscribers they have NOW rather than upsell them on something extra. Makes much more sense.

stop the crying...the content is great and cheep..i would siriusly pay 2 more dollars for monthly fee for the sirius app.Pocket tunes right now works away and outside the car.I eat breakfast at a diner and listen to howard and o and a and my coffee was never so enjoyable that the waitresses stand with me to listen. long and strong till im dead.....SES2009

I was pissed for awhile right after the merger, but I'm seeing a few signs that let me know the company is starting to think about us customers...

email notifications, less "updates" where the radio cuts out in the middle of a good bit.

this expansion of online channels....

I recommend the lifetime sub - I get all the additions and online as part of it (with the exception of best of XM which i don't really care about cuz sirius content OWNS XM content

"Have any of you guys ever listened to the online channels? They almost all exhibit intense popping and skipping! "

That's your damn iPod making that sound. Get a lifetime sub and wake the hell up!

BFD

i would love to be given the option of swapping america left for sirius left.

no more ranting yente samuels
less smoove jazz thompson
no more not-a-liberal bennett at a time where i can easily hear him.
YES stephanie miller 3 hours LIVE
YES thom hartmann 3 hours before midnight

i personally would flip shultz and hartmann, but that's just me. this channel is loads better than sirius' liberal offering and i probably would use my reciever more often if i got a choice between the two.

are there any limits as to how many channels they could offer online?

Most of the content is the same on both services. So does Sirius "OWN" itself?

Only Sirius interrupts you when the radio is updating.
XM radios always update silently and without interrupting unless the channel itself goes away.

I'm still hoping for the Sirius platform to go away in favor of XM.
If it happens that the Sirius platform is the one that survives, it will be the most stupid decision ever made in the history of radio.

I'm certain that the Sirius tech boyz still don't know how XM works. They play music on the Traffic&Weather channels.
So stupid.

20on20 ROCKS ! i listen to their music all the time!
