XM Top 20 on 20XM Satellite Radio is re-launching their flagship hits channel, Top 20 on 20 (ch 20), on Monday, December 4th.

As part of the re-launch, Top 20 on 20 will feature on-air personalities around the clock, along with the popular Top 20 on 20 countdowns airing throughout the day at 12, 3, 6 and 9am and pm ET/PT. In addition, the new 20 on 20 will include celebrity hosted countdowns each Friday at 9pm ET/6pm PT.

To kick off the revamped channel, during the week of December 4th, XM’s 20 on 20 will air celebrity countdowns each day hosted by Nelly Furtado (Dec. 4), Ciara (Dec. 5), Diddy (Dec. 6), Evanescence (Dec. 7) and Chingy (Dec. 8). The channel will also feature performances by celebrity "House Band" guests throughout the week, including The Fray, Hinder, Ludacris, Pink, KT Tunstall and others.

Current Top 20 on 20 MD Priestly and PD Michelle Cartier will be on-air hosts for the new Top 20 on 20 during mornings and mid-days, respectively. XM has also hired two new personalities for the channel – Evan James, previously with MTV Radio, who will host afternoons out of XM’s New York studios, and Chris Styles, of DC’s Hot 99.5, will serve as evening host from XM’s DC headquarters.

The elephant in the room is Hitlist. If the personalities are leaving for 20on20 where does that leave this channel? (Which doesn't exactly have a lot going for it even now.)

If 20 is turning into the a more true CHR (with an emphasis on daily countdowns) then what is Hitlist? Or do they just get rid of it altogether?

I'd have to agree. I personaly hate this channel but my girlfriend constantly puts it on. She prefers 20 on 20 over hit list soley due to the fact that she knows what she's getting, the top hits of the day. She likes the Hitlist, but sometimes feels the playlist is "too deep." I don't see why XM is changing the 20 on 20 formula.

My understanding was that Hitlist is supposed to the "decades" channel that covers the 2000's. Also, I have always wondered if they might add some more Canadian content to it, since the imaging on Hitlist has stated from Day 1 that it played "North America's Hit Music."

Finally.

I liked the concept of a music-only channel... kind of like Jack-FM for the satellite crowd. Hopefully the DJ's won't blather on too long.

If XM really wanted to improve 20 on 20, they'd put the current voting results on their website. That way we'd know how long we have to wait for a song or if we'd already missed it this go-round.

I do not understand those that get listen to satellite radio for the Jack-fm style shows. I am extremely happy with the depths of musical choices but could never find myself tuning in to here Nelly Furtado, Pink, or Diddy's latest hit when my free old fm dial provides major coverage of that.

You might not get satellite radio *for* Diddy, but if you like Diddy and you're already getting satrad for other reasons, there's no point in avoiding the hits channels out of some sort of principle. Who would use satellite for the obscure formats and then switch back to FM for Top 40?

It'll be interesting to see what XM does with Hitlist. Personally, I'd like to see 20 On 20 bring back "The Rock Show"...I know Squizz has their weekly countdown show, but "The Rock Show" encompassed the harder stuff Squizz played along with more "mainstream" rock...Even if they just did it once or twice a week, maybe on a Saturday late morning/early afternoon, that'd be cool...That was about the only time I'd liste to 20 On 20, to see how rock acts were doing according to the XM listeners.

Too bad! the channel was OKAY...but it should have been left the way it was! its funny how theres always someone who has to make it "better" **LOL
