XM reps have conversation with Commisioner Tate's office

And the meetings continue at the FCC, only this time, it's by phone.
According to an filing made public by the FCC this morning, counsel for XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. had a telephone conversation with Amy Blankenship, Legal Advisor in Commissioner Tate's Office.
The conversation, which occurred yesterday, was to "review pending issues raised in recent filings" as is frequently the case.
Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) there's little else to report except that XM's counsel, Latham & Watkins, urged for "prompt approval" of the pending merger with Sirius Satellite Radio Inc.
Today marks the 400th day anniversary since Sirius-XM filed their application with the FCC.

LOL!
They're "TALKING!".....ON THE PHONE!
This is HUGE news. And to think all this time I thought they were communicating thru "smoke signals"!!
I am over the hill with excitement I can hardly contain myself! :-)

Enough already! XM and Sirius should just send Amy Blankenship a box of money and be over with it. That's how it done in Washington.

At least the building is worth something. It's a nice building in a crappy part of town that is experiencing tremendous growth.
Can anyone photoshop a fore sale sign on this?
Maybe a "For Lease - Immediate Occupancy; Great Terms"
LOL, maybe they can sell it and lease it back just like they are doing with the satellites to get operating cash.
I love making myself laugh.

You keep ignoring this story, which I think is pretty significant.

The reuters article is very interesting. But I doubt the views of music producers will have any sway on the FCC. Besides, they may find there are even more niche channels with a merger when duplication is fazed out.
My biggest concern now is what type of concessions the FCC may require of XM and Sirius. Loss of bandwidth, of course, being my major concern....

FCC is a joke

It sounds like they are at the stage in the process, if they are just talking by phone now, that they are waiting for specific conclusions to pending issues and that they are reminding the FCC thru these communications that they are waiting on them to resolve the issues and get this done. (phone call): Are we there yet? We're waiting. Are we there yet? We're waiting. Please move this along and get this done.....

I think that they are tired of visiting and they decided to use the phone instead.
After all this time they decided to use the phone.. WOW
Well the good news is that this means that the decision is coming soon otherwise they would have taken the time to meet as they have used to do.

XM is in Washington, FCC is in Washington. And they are calling each other ? Either they are close to resolution - OR - they both know what a hassle the traffic is in Washington !!!.

Or they are tired of paying high gas prices and conserving the company's budget.

It wouldn't surprise me if the FCC is looking for some way to blame the high price of gas and the global warming .. on SATRAD ... and a merger will make it worse.
They've done and ANALysis and found that 18 million people are sitting in their cars with the engines running ... wasting gas and polluting the environment ... listening to SATRAD.
