World Cup on XMXM Satellite Radio is finishing off their coverage of the FIFA World Cup with the finale match between Italy and France. Tune into the live play-by-play coverage of Italy vs. France this Sunday, July 9th, at 2pm ET/11am PT on XM 148 (in English) and XM 147 (in Spanish).

Soccer fans will hear coverage of the final match from an English broadcast line-up that includes former U.S. World Cup team players Jeff Agoos, Thomas Dooley, and Christopher Sullivan, as well as renowned soccer play-by-play broadcasters such as Dave Johnson and Phil Schoen. Meanwhile, Spanish-language coverage of the World Cup will include legendary announcer Andres Cantor.

In a related note, the Examiner wonders: what will happen with XM 147 and XM 148 when the World Cup comes to an end? The World Cup has suddenly brought an increased interest in the sport, and writer Jim Williams begs XM to sign with MLS, Gol TV or Fox Soccer.

Not a bad idea since a huge benefit of satellite radio is to appeal to a mass market by offering a wide selection of verticals. And soccer - at least in the U.S. - is pretty damn vertical.

Thanks Jason!
