XM Skydock iOS App updated, includes Background Audio

XM Skydock iPhone App
The XM Skydock App for Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch devices has been updated and is now available in the iTunes store. The big change? Support (finally) for Background Audio, but there's an added twist.
Yes, the new XM Skydock App adds Background Audio capabilities but not just for the 3rd generation iPod Touch and iPhone 4.

Indeed, the new app supports Background Audio all iPod Touch and iPhone models using OS 3.0 or higher. So you can listen to your favorite shows while using other apps. (Insert applause here). This is likely one of the reasons why it took so long to update, which was a point of contention with many consumers.

Additionally, the XM Skydock update improves dock transitions when used with iOS 4 devices and also fixes a bug that displayed the "Dock not detected" message even though the device was docked.

It's about time they updated this app! Looking forward to using it later on today.

Thanks Ryan a nice update to wake up to. Couldn't wait to try it and the power pause button rules for safety driving.

Has anyone figured out how to kill the app and stop the music? Even exiting the app (double clicking the home button) and then exiting doesn't do it. The music still continues to play, even though there is no SkyDock icon displayed.

Very buggy app. The only way I could kill it is by pulling the iPhone out of the dock, and then magically the SkyDock app icon re-appeared.

"Background" audio from the XM skydock can be toggled on and off using the dock's power button as mentioned above.

On the iphone, you can kill any active app by holding your finger on any icon in the app toolbar(?), which causes them all to start wiggling (you get to the app toolbar by double-clicking the home button). Then click the x box for the app you want to close.
