How much money is XM getting from this? They have done a fantastic job of giving away their services for next to nothing through Hertz,JetBlue,AOL,CBS and now Starbucks. Lets see them make some money now.

It's a good, low-risk marketing/advertising ploy by XM (a rarity nowadays when, increasingly, people are associating Satellite Radio with Sirius) so I doubt they're getting much cash out of it.
However, none of the artists or songs are that expensive (Robert Plant rather than Led Zeppelin, for example), and Starbucks can distribute nationwide. I don't know about the rest of the country, but here in NYC, there seems to be one on every fucking corner.
Smart move.

XM will definitely make money off the CD's, which were probably ridiculously easy to produce considering they already had all the content.
Obviously the priority is the marketing of the actual service. They should do more of this and with more programming - talk, sports, comedy, etc.
Perhaps a 'sampler disc' of all that XM offers, to be given away for free at places such as Starbucks?

The disks should be given away free regardless. For the price of coffee they should be giving away their wifi service also.
