Chance Patterson of XM Satellite Radio and spokesperson extraordinaire, told Bloomberg that we "can expect to see an announcement from XM by Monday'' on last year's subscriber numbers.
Remember that during XM's 3Q06 earnings call, it was announced that beginning in 2007, XM will no longer release subscriber numbers prior to earnings.
"The Street is assuming that XM will have equivalent success with retail holiday sales and make its year-end subscriber guidance," Stanford Group analyst Frederick Moran also told Bloomberg.
And while Stanford Group and Cowen & Co. feel Sirius' subscriber numbers are wholly positive news for the industry, Motley Fool is quick to state that "it's not all roses in the Sirius camp." The Fool supports this with by pointing out that 4Q05 added 1.1 million net subs, while 4Q06 added "just" 0.9 million new net subscribers.

200k less then last years mega hoopla for Howard Stern-I know the street is looking just at the numbers and stats but considering the launch-Im still shocked how well they did considering--I dont think we will EVER see those numbers again(at least from the retail side)
also XM having better then expected numbers would be great for both stocks--I think they know sub amount--just waiting for CPAs to say if CFBE or not
I fully expected 940,000 so they came in a little short for me. still extreemly impressive. However, The OEM subs will start churning out soon. Unless Ford ramps up installs Churn can get ugly
I hope XM and Sirius can take some of this 'cash flow' and ramp up Marketing so that retail get's a "kick".
OEM is great, but they can't control car sales.
Getting retail going again is a must ! The on-line sales must be helping out the retail numbers this Christmas because the big-box stores still seem to tons of inventory.
Oprah could sell tons of radios if she did one special Oprah & Friend's show ... or just mentioned the radios half as much as she does IPODs.
Anyone have a feel for how many XM and Sirius subs come from all the new boat companies ?
It seems like most new boats have them installed standard now.

This should be interesting.
What takes XM so dang long anyhow ? .. Do they count them twice for good measure ? .....Is CFBE that close ? D0 they count on their fingers ?
