Coldplay is getting a dedicated channel on XM Satellite Radio starting on July 15th. The month-long channel, "30 Days of Coldplay," will air on XM channel 51, giving fans access to uncut live performances from the Viva La Vida Tour as well as other performances. Plus you'll hear exclusive tracks from their new album, interviews with the band, import-only released tracks and other hard-to-find recordings.
Love em or hate em, Coldplay is ridiculously popular. "Viva La Vida," which was released in the U.S. only last week, holds the record for the biggest number of pre-sales on iTunes. It moved 721,000 first-week U.S. copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and 40% of those sales were digital downloads, making it the biggest sales frame ever registered for a digital album.
Coldplay's Viva La Vida North American Tour kicks off in L.A. on June 29th, but 30 Days of Coldplay (ch 51) will be available on XM from July 15th through August 15th.

2)it seeem as though XM's programming is becoming more and more "Siriusized" with these crappy artist only channels, even if they are only a month and it sucks. If i wanted crappy artist dedicated channels, i would get sirius. I got this nifty little gadget, its called an IPOD. if i want to hear a bunch of stuff from one particular artist, then i will break out my ipod and listen to that artist.
Whee. Every band with four studio albums, one live disc and five EPs to their credit after fifteen years in the biz should have their own dedicated satrad station.
They are so popular, it's a good idea in all honesty. They aren't my favorite band, but I like hearing the back stories and live concerts and shit from bands.
Wow, a band I actually like is getting their own channel, and what do you know, all of them are under the age of 50!!!

I want the "Shareholders Meeting" Channel.... like many I was un able to go and there was Nothing... no news... no report... just the crappy presentation on XM's web site. No live Vidio feed. Not even an internet audio conection.
This is the one thing that has bothered me with XM all along.

It's the 15th of August and 30 Days of Cold Play is nearly over!!! Yipee! I didn't think much about the band, but since Coldplay preempted XM 29, I can't stand the band. Seeing all their ads on the tele hasn't helped either ... the guy looks like he has BO. Bleh.
I miss 30 Days of Coldplay! I loved it so much and now I'm like completely depressed
