Opie and Anthony were not censored...directly. XM made a decision that the apology they offered was not sincere. IMO, they were doing a bit that was to some distasteful. That is what they do...if you listen to them, that is what you expect. I think XM made a bad decision by pulling them for 30 days. They will be back and XM says they will not be censored. Only time will tell, but I'm leaning towards taking the statement at face value. Let's just celebrate them coming back and see how they are...

A 3-second delay? Seriously? A whole 3-seconds? I'm sorry, but anyone working in the biz can tell you that that claim is either outright bull (as in a lie), or completely misunderstood.

You don't go through the process of putting a show on delay -- to delay it by only 3-seconds. Even delays on terrestrial radio programs of old started at 7-seconds. Nowadays, with digital technology, the delays START at 10-seconds and run as long as 30 to even 60 seconds.

Besides, the only thing you could use a "3-second" delay for, would be to do simple editing. When you factor in the "reaction time" to acually hitting the dump button -- it doesn't leave much time to cut out what you're looking to cut out. Not to mention the "catch up" time for the delay to ramp up the delay again. A "3-second" delay would be absolutely useless -- especially if being used to control "rants regarding political leaders". You'd never be able to dump anything -- especially anything discussed at length.

Sorry, this story is either complete bull or very much misunderstoon. I'd say it's likely bullshit, IMHO.

Not to mention that they already have a fucking delay as is.

funny...they never got suspended for being belligerent towards XM management on-air about the studio, lack of promotion, the foot-dragging on the CBS deal, etc. etc. have you listened to the show in the last 2.5 years? they shittalk XM all the time about everything. either way, one can't deny that it's no longer "anything goes radio" over at XM. i don't expect the same level of show when they come back on friday, and that's a shame.

You may listen every day but you missed the reason why they were taken off the air for 30 days. XM management instead of dealing with the likes of Al Sharpton offered a treaty with O&A that they should avoid talking about what was said and the entire topic of companies censoring what was said. (Hence why the show stayed on the air for a few days after the segment) Opie went on to call the management of XM essentially idiots in his usual round about way (a skill that is often very funny) which violated the agreement between the two parties. Many people saw the actions as a form of censorship, which it was but it wasn't over what was said about Bush and Rice but rather over employee/company standards.

Millions of people complain about their company on a daily basis and that in itself is fine, however not when an employee starts to call out their management it becomes a problem.

It helps to remove the tin foil PEST hat every so often... I know I have to do it myself.

I admit, I didn't cancel my XM...I definitely cnsidered it, but after much discussion with my wife, and realizing how many other things I listen to besides O7A, it just made more sense to ride this suspension out...And after my trip to Jacksonville, I was thankful I'd kept the subscription and could listen to my Mariners as well as some good music. (No offense to any Jacksonville readers, but your local radio is only slightly better than what we have here in Seattle.)

That being said, I'll be up at 3:00 AM local time on Friday to catch O&A's triumphant return...I think we won't really know what the lasting affects, if any, are from the suspension until they've been back for a couple weeks. I have a feeling Friday will mostly be Travelling Virus discussion...As it probably would be had they not been suspended in the first place...So, I don't think Friday's show will necessarily be a good indicator as to what's changed.

That being said, the 3-second delay thing sounds like a bad joke. Anyone, even if you're not in the industry, knows 3 seconds isn't enough time, as others have pointed out, to dump anything.

How can you compare O&A bashing XM becuase of the studio or not having any respect, with saying their "apology" was not genuine and XM's rules are really stupid. You missed the point completely. Avid fans of ____ (Fill in O&A or Howard in this case) tend to be gullible and believe what is said by their "radio gods" or amongst the other fans. Howard fans believe the Zero Point Zero comments yet there is no actual basis for statement and Howard knows it, he also kept a very extensive gag order on the O&A show for years and denied it. It's unfair to say one shows fans are pathetic when the same could be said for Howard fans. Don't point a finger if you can't take the heat back... Just to proove that some of O&A fans aren't complete idiots and do everything the boys say without even giving it a thought, there was all that shit about how you should smash your radio and cancel your subscription. Well, I knew they'd be back in 30 days, and I like other programming on XM accept for 202, so I did neither of the above. Let's face it. If XM really needed to be shown that censoring O & A was a bad thing, a lot more people, I'm talking millions would've had to cancel to make a big impact. 5000 as opposed to the what is it now, 10000000 subscribers XM has now? That's just a round number so please don't comment back and correct me on the exact number. My point is that 5000 cancelations, as opposed to the total number of subscribers canceling, does not make a huge impact. and in some cases I heard that XM didn't even cancel some subscriptions. The pests kept calling and badgering XM to cancel, but aparently it didn't work so well. So, unlike some of the mindless idiot zombies, I'll be listening on Friday with my subscription that I never canceled. I don't do things just because a stupid message board admin tells me to.

Hoo Hoo probably started the whole hypocritical spectacle when he pissed himself and ran to the white-haired shyster to tell him that O & A's comments were jeoparizing the merger because they might offend one or more of these groups. Like I said in another post, a conspiracy that involves SMASHING RADIOS and CANCELING SUBSCRIPTIONS is NOT in the best interest of a corporation trying to MAKE MONEY.

If it *was* a grand scheme hatched by the staff of the show, in conjunction with said relatives and forum administrators, and XM got wind of it, O&A would NEVER have been returned to the air. Bad-mouthing the company is one thing, but taking money out of their pocket and/or colluding to do so is reason enough for immediate dismissal - as well as a possible lawsuit.

I initially thought you were talking about my other post. One million subscriptions per quarter is definitely a gross (pun intended) exageration. Patterson is one of the Xirius swine who I was referring to in my first post.

The XM and Sirius managers are "thick as thieves" in their efforts to get this merger approved. Nothing big happens now unless both sets of swine want it to happen.

Here's how it went down.....

1. Homeless Charlie makes comments
2. O&A apologize
3. XM is kissing ass to minority groups for the merger
4. O&A don't take the apology seriously
5. XM suspends O&A to prove a point to minority groups

So Elmo and Lindsey plant the seed that O&A were fired. This is Opie's sick little way of turning lemons into lemonjuice. he gets off on fucking with the pests. you know he gets off on that shit, and hes obsessed with the media.
