Now all they need is Sirius content so that radio will sell at retail. I think you might see xm suffer from negative retail sales this quarter due in most part to piss poor management and content that actually sucks. Sorry but that is my truthful opinion.
Brad
I like that "truthful opinion"..... implies that your opinion is the truth while all others are just "opinions".... the reality is you've never heard XM and you're just a cocky bastard.
XM's content doesn't suck and still has more subscribers than your precious SIRI.
Sirius is like FM without commercials. Bland and repetitious with fucking gay jocks blubbering on about nothing. So enjoy your faggoty E Street Radio, while I listen to channels with some actual variety.
Absolutely right pfreak, XM should dedicate 10 channels where all you hear is ancient bands, live concert recordings that sound like shit, and "exclusive" interviews that no one cares about. Who the hell wants variety when you subscribe to satellite radio? I want to sit in traffic and hear the same band over and over and over again... that's just superior content I tell you!
But Mr Bradley Cox (nice name) overhere has a crystal ball showing that XM is going to tank again when it comes to retail. Stop the presses! We've got a soothsayer among us!
How's this for truthful opinions ass... Sirius wins in retail because of Howard Stern. No other reason.
I don't get what everyone has against single band channels. Granted i wouldn't want 25 of these, but if memory serve sirius has 4 (Elvis, GD, Sinatra, and one that rotates on and off). First I think this is a good model to gain subsribers, they pick artists that have a finatical followings. people followed the dead for months, graceland gets over a million people a year, and sinatra defined a era. These are channels that pull in NEW subscribers, something this industry needs badly.
Second the man problem with FM is that they don't go deep into any genre, just scrap the surface with the same handful of songs repeated. Whats great about sat radio is they cover more musical ground and go deeper into it. these artist only channels should be veiwed as depth that regular radio can't go to, it adds to the product.
Once again though there needs to be a line, but 4-5 artists specific channels that briing in new subs i can live with.
You call playing all Elvis all the time going "deep into a genre"? A Dead channel -- that's deep into a genre? The Boss Genre?
This is simply using precious bandwidth to bore people to death with cheap content heard over and over and over and over again. Elvis was great. But nobody in his right mind wants to listen to it for hours at a time. Change the channel, you say? Sure, but because of all these single artist channels, I have fewer choices than I otherwise would.
When someone claims that Sirius music content is as good as XM's, the single artist channel instantly comes to mind as to just how ridiculous such a claim is.
Content? I thought this entry was about the XpressRC, and that unit is fantastic. Now to convince the wife I need another XM unit. The baby doesn't need to eat THAT much, does she?
Bradley Cox should try thinking for himself its pretty cool. I've had XM since Oct 2002 and I still love it. I don't need to bash sirius to do so either. I just bought the ExpressR and fell in love with XM all over again. Still, as Jim Norton said, I want this thing more than I want air. The ExpressR is an awesome reciever, but XM really created something great with the RC. I can't wait for mine, and just to spite Cox, and the merger, I'm paying for another 3 years of service up front. If O&A or R&F leave, though, I'll be very sad.

Boy, I wish XM would start devoting entire channels to one band. That's content in my truthful opinion.
