Ron and Fez on XM Satellite Radio?

Monday, February 21, 2005 at 7:58 AM

Ron and Fez on XM Satellite RadioHeeeyyyy!!
Rumor has it, fueled by DCRTV, that the popular talk-radio hosts Ron and Fez will be joining up the XM Satellite Radio roster.

There's a lot of chatter about whether the addition of Ron & Fez would be on a completely new channel (more likely), or piggy-back on XM 202 to add value to that Premium channel (possible). If XM's track record is any indication with G. Gordon Liddy and Dr Laura, I'd say Ron & Fez would get their own channel if this rumor is true.

Ron and Fez are long time friends of Opie and Anthony also on XM Satellite Radio.

Thanks candlebougie!

XM: Apple is "happy where they are"

Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 10:52 AM

At today's Conference Call, XM was asked about Mel's announcement on not having a Sirius / iPod partnership, and apparently XM has been in talks with Apple as well.

To paraphrase, Apple is focused on driving down the costs of the iPod and fighting off growing competition in that market, and they're "happy where they are" as of now. Steve Jobs supposedly said that he'll be happy to be wrong, and isn't ruling anything out, but the announcement of an iPod Satellite won't happen anytime soon.

The question still remains about the XM SkyPod trademark, but my personal hunch is that XM is preparing an iPod Accessory that will enable satellite radio reception on the iPod using XM's Connect-and-Play technology.
