College Football Kicks Off on XM

Go Bucks!XM Satellite Radio will be kicking off the 2006 college football season - the first year that XM will carry all the football teams in the Big East Conference - starting the week of August 28th. XM also is the official satellite network of the ACC, Big Ten, and PAC 10, and will carry the BCS bowl series on ESPN Radio.

Some of the college games to air on XM during the first week of regular season play are Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech; Stanford vs. Oregon; Boston College vs. Central Michigan, and Indiana State vs. Purdue.

You can also tune into "College Football Coast-to-Coast," an XM original that will air live at 1pm ET (weekdays) and 12-8pm ET (Saturdays) on XM's new 24-hour sports channel XM Sports Nation (ch 143) also starting August 28th.

PGA Championship on XM

Tiger WoodsThe PGA Championship will air live on XM Satellite Radio starting today, August 17th through Sunday, August 20th. The fourth and final major championship of the season will broadcast from Medinah, Ill., on XM channel 146.

The world's top two golfers, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, will be paired together for the first two rounds of the PGA Championship.  Joining them on the opening tee on Thursday will be Geoff Ogilvy, pitting the winners of the first three majors of the season against each other for the first 36 holes.

XM also announced that they will carry the Ryder Cup from Kildare, Ireland September 22-24. This is the first time that these two events will be broadcast on satellite radio.

XM Satellite Radio Covers the US Open Tennis Series

US Open Tennis on XM Satellite RadioXM Satellite Radio will be starting their coverage of the U.S. Open Tennis Series in the days leading up to the Grand Slam event. As the tournament gets underway, XM will provide daily highlights and broadcast live play-by-play coverage of the men's and women's semi-final and final matches in September.

XM's coverage of U.S. Open Tennis will include the "U.S. Open Daily Show," a daily hour-long show hosted by renowned tennis analyst, Bud Collins. Broadcasting directly from Arthur Ashe Stadium, the show will be available on XM's new 24/7 sports news and talk channel, XM Sports Nation (ch 143), from 10-11 am ET throughout the tournament. The show will debut on August 28.

You can also check out the live play-by-play coverage of the semi-final and final matches as XM will be broadcasting the men's and women's semi-finals and finals live - also on XM Sports Nation and also anchored by Bud Collins. Grand Slam Doubles champion, Murphy Jensen, and three-time Grand Slam singles winner, Virginia Wade, will provide commentary and analysis for both the men's and women's matches.

XM Satellite Radio to Launch 24/7 Sports News and Talk Channel

XM Satellite Radio is launching XM Sports Nation (XMSN) a dedicated 24-hour sports news and talk channel. The lineup for XMSN (ch 143) will include current XM programs like the shows hosted by Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Cal Ripken, Jr., Coach Mike Krzyzewski, James Carville and Luke Russert.  

But to complement this original sports programming, XM Sports Nation will feature popular content from Sporting News Radio, including shows from Tim Brando, Tony Bruno and Troy Aikman, among others.

XM will add several new shows to the lineup, including "XMSN This Morning," a daily show featuring the latest in sports news, highlights, interviews and scores from the world of professional and collegiate sports.  The weekday program will be hosted by XM personality T.J. Rives, current host of the original XM program "College Football Coast-to-Coast." XMSN also will feature original XM shows dedicated to collegiate sports, motorsports, fantasy sports and more.

The XM Sports Nation channel is set to debut on XM's programming lineup August 28th.
