Thanks Dwight!

UPDATE: I've updated the bullet points above to reflect the difference between recording XM audio, and storing digital audio. The MP3s can be stored on the microSD cards (not included, but 8Gb versions cost just over $20).

A source tells me that the XMp3 has 2Gb of internal storage space, dedicated for storing up to 100 hours of XM audio. And with the ablity to record 5 channels at once, you'll need every bit of it.

Any word on a wireless transmitter?

Nice price.
Small recording capability. I thought it would be able to get higher since now we have the opportunity for 5 stations.

Excellent. More customer confusion... shit.

$280. Ouch. iPod Touch with FlyTunes: $230 and no monthlys.... with free punk to boot.

Not too expensive, pretty good features, a TON of room, but I'll still have it totally full within a month. But is it absolutely confirmed that you will be able to get at least the best-of Sirius on it?

Now basically the only question is Slacker Portable or XMp3? Which will be the Christmas gift to myself.

NO CAR KIT yet again! freakin' home kit pretty sweet I must say

I have a really hard time believing that the RIAA would allow them to record on removable media in MP3 format, but that would be very cool.

For what its worth, Best Buy acquired Napster today for $121M. The WSJ article said the goal was "music and other digital electronic products through an array of devices."

@Anon: I've updated the post to be better worded. The XMp3 allows you to record 100 hours of XM audio on the internal memory (2gb), and to listen to MP3 on a microSD card.

Why does XM not have this on there site first?

If it hadn't been for the suicide merger, this would have been really interesting...

STILL 100 HOURS..... damn

Thats why I didn't bother with the S-200, I have 100 hours on the s-100 and 30 gig mp3. I NEED more storage on the radio, 6 hours a day eats it up.

I'm up for it......I just hope they didn't put the microSD card underneath the battery.

Cool. But NOT on the ONE TOUCH recording limits. Sounds like a Stiletto 100 clone.

the new radios coming out that will handle both Sirius and XM, are they going to require new bases for home or car??

seems like it would be an easier sell if they design a s50, like I have, that will handle both and will allow me to continue to use my old s50 base.

Cool. But NOT on the ONE TOUCH recording limits. Sounds like a Stiletto 100 clone. I must say I was expecting a bit more. Wifi, more storage. With the Inno being 2 yrs old. You'd think they'd do better that 50 more hours

Just saw that, no wi-fi. Whats the point?

I heard the SD card can't record XM shows, just music loaded from other sources. So we can't transfer music to our PC's.

100 hours on 2 gigs means the bitrate will be 36kbps, which isn't even good for talk shows (I record Howard at 96kbps, you need at least 128 for music). I hope the user can choose the sound quality while recording, otherwise everything will have that watery echo sound behind it.

I was pleasantly surprised to find this tonight:
Pioneer's own website on the GEX-XMP3 !

This should answer all your questions on this bitchin' lil toy! You might as well download an owner's manual for details!

Ryan over at xmfan.com has been pretty down on this device.

"Other than internal storage and microsd slot, it's not much of an upgrade from the Inno. And from what I have heard, due to the lawsuit settlements from the music industry over the Inno, it's recording and playback abilities will be nothing like the Inno's."

That doesnt sound good. Also i refuse to pay full price for any radio. Ive done it before and seen prices drop faster than Sirius's stock.

So let me get this straight, nobody has an issue with the ability to record. Really?

So I can pay $142.45/per year and steal hours of music!

That's a deal! I promise not to give the new Top 20 to a friend, no really, I promise.

This will bring in the quality consumers we love! Thieves. That's just what the RIAA wants.

Oh wait, I get it, you pay to steal now, which makes it legal, right?

Anonymous--you do realize that this is designed to prevent that. The recording capabilities over the air are locked to the device. That's why you use a MicroSD card for songs you use.

Also, people have been taping regular radio since they had cassette recorders, and nobody complained then.

It looks like Best Buy took down their link...

Looks nice but the Helix is doing fine by me. I paid little for the Helix and still have the MyFi. I guess some will buy this new radio but it looks nicer with some new features but nothing worth buying. Wonder how the indoor reception is in portable mode?

That OTHERR Ryan runs the biggest whorehouse on the Internet. Really, the guy is an assholian.

I'm hearing the XMp3 release date has moved to December?! Can someone confirm this. RYAN at XMFAN posted this. He says people at XM told him this.

I can not believe as I click on past links the pages have been taken down. They must be making changes....I am an XM sub and I want recording capability right now and I was about to pull the trigger on the Helix, but heard of this coming out. Now I hear the date has been moved back....what should I do just buy what is best now? I drive truck (Contractor) around five states and at least want to be able to record talk shows so I can listen to them later? What should I do? I am on a 3 month xm free sub after I called and wanted to cancel.

Standard microSD cards only go up to 2 gig. MicroSDHC cards do go up to 8 gig, but the two cards are not interchangeable on most equipment. I learned that the hard way when I bought a Stiletto 2.

This thing is back up for sale as of 10/15 on Crutchfield's website.

I saw that...but what about gettign a discount from XM with a subscription extension I currenlty have no contract and no radio as it is damamged I want to buy this and I am in limbo waiting to buy what I want and not spend cash on somethign I will not want in weeks as this comes out in force.
