XMP3 Review - Orbitcast
Pros: The XMP3 is by far the most advanced XM satellite radio to date (a small radio with BIG features!); I absolutely love how it records 5 channels at once - not an "expected" feature by any means, but once you have it you never want to go bak; On-the-go reception is the most superior to any satellite radio on the market, without a doubt.

Cons: Funky weird interface (truth be told: we like the Stiletto 2 interface better); On-the-go reception is not flawless; No Wi-Fi capability which makes it harder to use indoors

XMP3 Overview

The Pioneer XMP3 is the latest generation of XM's fully portable satellite radios, and it is - in our opinion - by far the best satellite radio yet.

By "portable" we mean walk-around-town-while-listening and not just the capability to undock the radio and plug it in somewhere else, and it's in this feature that the XMP3 really excels. Of all the satellite radios on the market, you really cannot beat the XMP3's reception.

What's more, when docked the XMP3 has the capability to record up to 5 channels at once - extending the on-the-go functionality of the unit. Don't get reception in a certain spot? No problem! Switch to the plethora of content that you just recorded. Our favorite activity is to set the XMP3 to record a couple hours of content from different channels at 2am - and now we have a ton of content to listen to while at the gym that morning (warning: the XMP3 will feed your A.D.D. tendencies).

Pioneer's XMP3 does fall short in a couple areas though: the interface has way too many menus creating an unnecessary number of clicks to get to a final selection (the Stiletto 2 interface is much better). Also, the lack of Wi-Fi is a disappointment as it limits listening around the house (also a feature that the Stiletto 2 benefits from).

But those are just minor gripes. Without a doubt, if you want to get one of the most versatile satellite radios available - you really can't go wrong with the Pioneer XMP3. Add on the "Best of Sirius" package, and you've literally got everything you want at your fingertips.
